At Rutledge Family Medical Centre, we are a private billing practice.
Our doctors are independent practitioners who set their own fees. This allows them to provide longer, more thorough consultations and maintain a high standard of care for our patients. This approach helps ensure we can continue to provide accessible, sustainable, high-quality healthcare for our community.

Fee changes from 20 April 2026
Like most general practices, our costs have increased significantly over time, including wages, rent, utilities, software, equipment and clinical supplies. Medicare rebates have not kept pace with those increases. The real cost of providing safe, thorough and sustainable care has continued to grow. Our fee update is intended to help us maintain quality care, appropriate appointment times, experienced staff support and ongoing access to your GP.

Consultation Fees

​​Standard appointment (less than 20 min) - $95.90 with an out of pocket cost $52

Long appointment (more than 20 less than 40) - $180 with an out of pocket cost of $94.10​
​
We charge a private fee of $108 on weekends and public holidays for all appointments, no bulk billing is available on weekends.

Bulk Billing
We continue to offer bulk billing for selected services and patient groups, including:

​Children under 5 years (with a valid concession card)

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients with a valid concession card and registered with our practice for MyMedicare

DVA Gold Card holders

DVA White Card holders (for approved conditions)

Care plans, health assessments

Some consultations and procedures may attract additional fees depending on time, complexity, and equipment required.

At Rutledge, we believe in informed financial consent. Your doctor will always discuss any additional costs with you prior to proceeding. You can always contact the reception for additional information.

​Payment and Medicare Rebates

Payment is required on the day of your appointment

Medicare rebates are processed immediately via Easyclaim

Your rebate is directly processed into your nominated bank account

Missed Appointments
Missed appointments or short-notice cancellations will incur a fee of $55. This helps ensure appointment availability for all patients.
